AIRFIELD
The Middelburg airfield was built in the early 1970’s for use as base point for the still operational 4SAI military base. Interestingly enough, Middelburg Aero Club (MAC) originated by members of the still active glider club.
Since those humble beginnings with dusty taxiways and only one hangar, MAC has grown immensely to become one of the most active flying clubs in the country.
We proudly boast a large variety of aircraft at our field including gliders, microlites, general aviation, Pipers and Cessnas to an array of crop sprayers and fighter jets.
Conveniently situated approximately 6 kilometres to the north of Middelburg CBD, MAC proudly entertains three flight schools as well as a well-operated fuel bay with both AVGAS and Jet-A1.
Fly-in visitors are always welcome at our airfield. We have clean toilets and our minimal landing fees are based on an honorary payment system. Signage at the airfield will indicate the landing fee and payment can be made to the following account:
